Title: The evaluation method of functional and spatial value of the existing livestock buildings for qualifying objects to modernization

Abstract: The paper presents the method of evaluation of technical, functional and spatial values of the farm buildings to determine suitability of livestock facilities to modernization. The method takes into account a number of evaluation criteria, such as: technical state of the building, spatial characteristics, interior microclimate, flexibility modernization and significance of the facility as a part of the production complex. The method was used for the evaluation of the cowshed located in Zduńska Dąbrowa. The evaluation results confirmed that the modernization of depreciated objects is fully possible and profitable. Therefore, the conclusions became the basis for a project of the cowshed’s modernization in order to adopt existing technology and construction to current EU standards.
