Abstract: Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is relatively a new idea, however it’s becoming gradually more and more popular amongst especially international corporations, but also amongst smaller companies and enterprises. The evolution of the idea of socially responsible business and its instruments were presented. The practical dimension of corporate social responsibility was examplified by Cemex Poland, as a corporation with the building materials sector. Analysis of selectively chosen effects of implementation of strategy CRS by Cemex Poland firm through sustainable construction, reducing of CO2 emissions, taking care of the environment, and local communities enables to visualize the financial and non-financial benefits.
