Abstract: A pot experiment was conducted to compare the effects of compost from by-products of the fishing industry with mineral fertilization on the chemical composition of the soil. In the experiment used compost in 1 g N on the pot and compost with 0.5 g N of urea. The treatments were conducted on the following types of composts: C1: 80% fish waste + 20% sawdust; C2: 80% fi sh waste + 20% straw; C3: 80% fish waste + 20% bark; C4: 79.3% fish waste + 19.7% sawdust + 1% brown coal; C5: 79.3% fi sh waste + 19.7% straw + 1% brown coal; C6: 79.3% fi sh waste + 19.7% bark + 1% brown coal. The highest value on the content of organic carbon in soil was observed with mineral fertilizing and without N-min in variants with compost with by-products from the fishing industry and sawdust, straw and brown coal. The highest content of magnesium was noted in the objects with additional fertilizing with urea. The addition of brown coal to the compost mass influenced on increasing of hydrolytic acidity and reducing the content of hydrogen ions.
