Abstract: The lattice Boltzmann method is presented as an efficient tool for computation the velocity profiles in open channel flow with rigid stems. The results obtained for regular distribution of stems are compared with the results obtained by means of other methods giving good quantitative agreement. The lattice Boltzmann method is also applied for the cases of nonuniform distribution of stems or stems with nonequal height and the velocity profiles for these cases are also computed.
