Abstract: Aerobic stabilization of sludge is one of the most important processes used in the small wastewater treatment plants (15,000 ENI). Because of the large energy consumption of the process of forcing a continuous oxygenation sought methods of pre-treatment which may improve it. One such method drop down in recent years has become disintegration. The purpose of the disintegration of the particle size reduction of organic compounds and the compounds are resistant to decomposition of the biodegradable. In addition, the disintegration allows for breaking strong chemical bonds that hinder biodegradation deposits. This causes a change in the structure of sludge flocs and the supernatant liquid, thereby increasing susceptibility to degradation in the stabilization process. The paper presents a study to determine the optimum time for excess sludge disintegration by microwave, which was determined at t = 4 min. There were presented the results of preliminary research of sediment stabilized oxygen, which is a mixture of sediment not disintegrated and disintegrated by use of the microwave (at the time specified in the first part of experiment) in the volume ratio 1:1 with respect to the control sample, which is not disintegrated sludge and stabilized in the same conditions as the mixed sample. The positive effect of the disintegration is visible especially in the early days of aerobic stabilization, which was saw a greater reduction of organic compounds than the same time in the sludge, which was not disintegrated. And requires 38 % reduction in the concentration of organic compounds in the mixed sludge occurred earlier (13 day of the process) than in a sludge that was not disintegrated (20 day of the process). Calculated that due to shorter aeration time of mixed sample spared nearly 50 % of the energy.
