Title: New classification of soil

Abstract: The aim of the paper was to compare Polish, previously used soil classification according to PN-88/B-2480:1986 with new European classification of soil according to PNEN ISO 14688-1:2006 and PN-EN ISO 14688-2:2006 related to the Eurocode 7. In the paper are discussed the changes in testing methods and classification of soils, taking into account the following issues: soil grading, fractions, division of noncohesive soils and cohesive soils, rules of the new macroscopic procedures and their application for cohesive soils, the provisions of the National Annex. Concluding remarks referring to the implementation of the new classification of soils are presented.
