Abstract: The paper presents the advanced methods and devices using to determine the shear modulus in soils. A combination of field and laboratory tests was used to characterise the behaviour of a overconsolidated clays. The soil shear modulus at very small strain range G0 was estimated from the SCPTU and the bender elements tests as well as the resonant column tests.
