Abstract: Hydropower is a pro-ecological method of producing ecofriendly electricity, which priority should be the accordance of leaded activities with the applicable environmental regulations. Important activity related to the hydroelectric power stations is the creation of water reservoirs, which provide the adequate maintenance of groundwater levels and flood mitigation by minimizing the water risings, what in consequence reflects in less environmental losses. It has been generally accepted that the development of human civilization is essentially related to the degradation and deterioration in the functioning of individual nature elements. However, it turns out that the development can contribute to the creation of entirely new areas, in which it will become possible to restore properly functioning ecosystems.
