Abstract: The use of renewable energy sources is one of the country’s energy policy targets, especially from the viewpoint of the implementation of the European Commission RES Directive. In this paper a review of the possibilities of using the organic-Rankine-cycle technology for power generation from renewable sources, such as solar energy, biomass and geothermal water is presented. It also discusses the problem of the selection of a suitable organic working fluid, which depends on the particular application of the ORC system and the available heat source.
