Abstract: This paper presents the approaches used for limit state verification in case of hydraulic failure mode called in Eurocode 7 HYD (heave of excavation bottom), taking into account effects due to the presence or movement of ground water in the ground. Limit state were checked by calculating the degree of utilization based on the seepage force (Sd), and the weight of the soil (G’d), and based on the pore water pressure (ud) and total vertical stress (σvd). Calculations for different values of the water level (ΔH) and the piling depth (d) indicated the degree of utilization obtained using ud and σvd actions significantly greater in comparison to the second approach (Sd, G’d actions). Therefore, the approach with application of ud and σvd actions is recommended in geotechnical design.
