Abstract: In this study a geophysical investigation using electric resistivity tomography (ERT) was undertaken to characterize the condition of earth levees. The field measurements were conducted on Vistula levees near Kraski Górne. The ERT method allowed mapping electric resistivity structures along levees and so relatively high and low resistivity zones in the levee body could be easily read. The results were compared to borehole drillings and DPL test. As a conclusion it can be said that the ERT method can be used to identify failure risks areas with a relatively high resolution.
