Title: Resonant Column Apparatus as a device for dynamic testing of cohesive soils

Abstract: This article concerns the Resonant Column Apparatus used by the authors in their researches. This device was developed by the British company GDS Instruments Ltd and is an example of the resonant column projected by Hardin and Drnevich, in the fixedfree configuration. The apparatus is used to measure the dynamic properties of the soil. In the above publication, the structure of the equipment, a short description of the scope of work as well as a brief explanation of the test procedures are presented. The most important parameters that can be estimated on the basis of resonant tests are also mentioned. Moreover, the exemplary results of the tests performed are enclosed.
