Abstract: Development of nuclear energy raises the need to minimize negative impacts of generated refuse on the environment. They are dangerous for the whole ecosystem of the planet, but with appropriate strategies and techniques for dealing with radioactive refuse, we can significantly reduce the associated risks. The analysis methods of refuse disposal based on the techniques used in European Union countries is associated with the plan of Państwowa Agencja Atomistyki (PAA) undertaken in Poland. According to this over the next decade we will face the need to refuse disposal from nuclear power station and to this point we have to be properly disposed. This paper presents the properties of wastes from nuclear power stations and the best available technologies their utilization.
