Title: Verification of diaphragm walls stability in S8 motorway

Abstract: This paper presents an example of using diaphragm walls as retaining structures, which constitutes the security excavation for the motorway S8. The design differs from the methods used for retaining walls or classic piling. An analysis of the stability of the deep trench along the motorway S8 – “Armia Krajowa” in Warsaw was carried out. We used the method of calculation proposed in the Polish Standards of practice and according to Eurocode 7. Taking into account the successive phases of the investment, we estimated the internal forces which occur in diaphragm walls.
