Abstract: The paper presents the analysis of the remedial works which should be urgently taken to reduce the negative environmental impacts of the sanitary landfill and to allow to continue its further operation. The remedial works on the old landfill consist of technical and biological solutions aimed mainly at eliminating of groundwater degradation process and protection of surroundings against pollution. The proposed solutions, related to environment protection will enable to continue operation of the landfill for the next few years. The paper also presents the verification of the scope of the local monitoring to control of the water quality on surroundings as well as for effectiveness assessment of remedial works.
